Benjie
Hi! I’m Benjie and I have just graduated from the University of Oxford, where I got a First in Biological Sciences. I am now up at Imperial College London where I’m studying for an MSc in environmental economics and policy.
At A-level, I studied Biology (A*), Maths (A), and Philosophy (A*).
I am really excited to share my passion for biology and hopefully help spark a life-long interest in the natural world, alongside success in exams. I strongly believe that the best route to success in academic biology is linking the somewhat dry concepts to the amazing world we see around us and even to ourselves! This approach helps to organise the sometimes daunting breadth of biology into a more easily recallable framework. Even if the life sciences aren’t for you in the long run, this curiosity-lead approach will help you succeed wherever you go.
I am confident in communicating with a range of ages and abilities and enjoy adapting my approach to the student. I have a broad range of teaching experiences, for example, tutoring an adult individual with learning difficulties, as well as teaching 8-9 year olds about environmental sustainability.
Ellie
Hello, I’m Ellie. I study biochemistry at the University of Oxford. I am 21 and am currently a second year since I took a gap year!
At A-Level I studied Chemistry (A*), Biology (A*), Maths (A*) and History (A*).
I have had a lot of experience teaching GCSE and A level for Biology, Chemistry and Maths and can provide references on request. Personally, I have always been a concept learner and I think that making sure my students understand the wider principles at work is really important for ensuring interest. I believe that a genuine interest then translates into an ability to answer questions and succeed. Regurgitating work is not going to stimulate genuine interest. I’m good at communicating and have had a variety of experience such as working at an all girls prep school in South Kensington, privately tutoring one-to-one, and even teaching English to male monks in Nepal! These experiences have all helped me to come up with original and successful teaching tools and lesson plans.
