Tom
Hi, I’m Tom, and I’m a final year medical student at the University of Cambridge.
For my A levels, I studied Maths (A*), Biology (A*), Chemistry (A*) and Geography (A*). I achieved double first class honours in my Bachelors degree (pathology with a focus in virology and immunology) and have consistently ranked in the top 5% of my year group for medicine. I am passionate about medical research, and have had my work published and presented at national conferences. My areas of interest lie in novel applications of ultrasound imaging and trauma anaesthesia, and I have applied for an academic foundation job to develop my research skills further.
I have been tutoring for over four years now, and supported students in various stages of their learning from common entrance through to A levels and university applications. I pride myself on my ability to simplify complicated topics, and there is nothing as rewarding as watching pupils develop their understanding of the science I love. I always enjoy seeing their interests and curiosity grow with this process. I also regularly teach medical students, from second year through to fifth year, and recently gave lectures on cardiothoracic and gastrointestinal anatomy as part of an international surgical teaching series.
Outside of academics, I compete for the university hockey and athletics team. This enables one of my other main hobbies, eating, and I also enjoy watching NFL (I’m a big Jaguars fan) and travelling in my time off.
