Toby

Hi! I’m Toby, and I’m currently in my 5th year at the University of Cambridge studying Medicine. For my A Levels, I studied Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Extended Project, where I achieved 4A*.

Teaching is a real passion of mine, and I thoroughly enjoy watching students expand their knowledge, as well as their confidence in their chosen subjects. Throughout university, I have engaged in various teaching programmes, such as holding regular tutoring sessions for 1st and 2nd year medical students, as well as teaching clinical medicine alongside my studies. I have tutored across a range of ages focussed on Maths and Sciences, from Primary School and the 11+, to GCSEs and A-Levels

In addition to this, I have led talks at my previous school advising students applying to Oxbridge, as well as Medicine specifically. I’ve also worked with 3 students individually who were applying to Oxbridge for medicine and classics, helping them with their personal statements, as well as interview and exam preparation, all of whom were offered a place. After gaining a solid foundation of the sciences and maths throughout my school life and university, I hope to be able to pass this on to students in my tutoring sessions.

Making students feel comfortable and encouraged in learning is fundamental to my tutoring process, and I believe, despite learning and examinations being a stressful process, that I can instil confidence and passion in those I teach.
