Hello, I’m Sarah and I’m in my 3rd year studying Mathematics at the University of Oxford. At A-Level I studied Mathematics (A*), Further Mathematics (A*) and Geography (A*).
I’ve always been very enthusiastic about my subject and love being able to share that with others. Over the last 2 years I have been tutoring regularly and have experience with A Level, GCSE, KS3 and KS2. I know that when it comes to maths every student learns in a different way, so I always tailor my sessions to fit the learning style of each student in order to help them reach their full potential.
Alongside my degree I am a Mathematics Ambassador for the Mathematics Department here at Oxford. I’ve worked with academics at multiple outreach events to increase public engagement with maths and inspire more students to study it. I have also helped create free revision material for students disadvantaged by Covid-19, which was really rewarding and helped me become even more familiar with the course material.
In addition to helping with developing problem-solving skills and mathematical understanding, I think building confidence in maths is really important. No matter what the academic goals are I will work with each student to identify and overcome areas they struggle with so that they can go into exams feeling confident in their ability to tackle tricky questions.
