Niamh
Hi, I’m Niamh! I’m currently a Masters student in the History of Art at St Johns College, Oxford after completing my BA at the university in 2021. I studied History, English Literature and Art at A level. My passion for Art History began in museums and was corroborated by inspiring history teachers I was lucky enough to have at A-level. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of analysing art from Ancient Egyptian temples to contemporary Latinx/a/o performance works.
While preparing for exams, it’s easy to forget how interesting these topics can be. Successful tutoring reignites this excitement for the world of history and its many twists and turns. This engagement is instrumental in bolstering your exam performance, critical reading and object analysis. My aim with tutoring is to consider specific areas of concern for the student and how to remedy them, tailoring your experience to efficiently improve both confidence and enjoyment of this brilliant subject. Beyond memorising dates, we will consider what you bring to the subject and how to convey that to an examiner.
Over the last two years, I have tutored in a variety of contexts – working for the University access division (UNIQ) to provide Oxbridge application support and on a subject-specific A-level mentoring platform, Zero Gravity. Throughout this time, I have found nothing more rewarding than welcoming people into this subject, working with their learning style to ensure they get the most out of our time together.
