Moses - history of art, University of cambridge
Hello, I'm Moses. I recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Starred First in History of Art. I now work as an editor and tutor, alongside working on a play to be staged next year. I tutor History of Art, History, English Literature, and Philosophy from GCSE to undergraduate level. At A-Level I studied History (A*), English (A*), and Pre-U Philosophy (D1), and completed an EPQ on aesthetics (A*).
I now have four years of tutoring experience spanning the subjects listed above, as well as working specifically with students applying to Oxford and Cambridge. In both A-Level tuition and university entrance the students I have worked with have achieved the grades they needed and succeeded at interview, and I have extensive experience working both online and in person.
Besides these edifying results, the students I have worked with have come away with a deeper and broader sense of critical engagement with their subject, and with new, exciting material. I think tutoring presents an opportunity for a sustained and mutually rewarding discussion about the things that make subjects and texts important. Moving outside the limits of lessons and curricula is as essential for exam performance and university entry as it is for good conversation, and the combination of these two things is what–for me–constitutes an ideal teaching relationship.
