Miranda - English, University of Cambridge

Hello! My name is Miranda and I’ve recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First Class in English. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cambridge and was delighted to rank in the top ten of my highly talented cohort while also pursuing my interests in student journalism and theatre. At A Level I studied English Literature (A*), History (A*) and Psychology (A*) as well as completing an EPQ (A*).   

I have experience tutoring English Language and Literature from GCSE and below through to A Level. I believe there is no ‘textbook’ way to study English and it is important to work with each student to find a learning and revision strategy that clicks. In many cases it is true that practise makes perfect, so I provide consistent, detailed feedback on practice essays and worked through examples. 

I also offer support with university applications and interview preparation. I know how first-hand daunting these can be, so I work with students to demystify the process and build confidence in their own strengths and abilities. 

I’m currently working at an independent school in Hertfordshire as a Graduate Copywriting Assistant, where I am constantly in conversation with leading teachers and educators about how to enhance students’ learning experience. I am passionate about English and hope to pursue an MA in Journalism in September.
