Mia
Hi, I’m Mia, a third year reading Music at New College, Oxford. I hold both an Academic and Instrumental Scholarship at New College, as well as various other Music Scholarships throughout the University.
At A-Level I studied Maths (A), Chemistry(A), and Music (A*), whilst playing flute in the London Schools Symphony and Guildhall School for Music and Drama (Junior Department) orchestras. I am currently studying with Gitte Marcusson and Robert Manasse.
Alongside music at Oxford, I also like to play hockey, produce operas, and I was one of the founding members of the University Taylor Swift Society!
I am an experienced private tutor, having taught KS3 Maths and Chemistry alongside several students which learnt GCSE English with me. I currently teach several students the flute, working toward ABRSM exams and making those improvements needed to be selected for Orchestras and County groups. I am confident providing music theory and performance advice.
I think it’s important to have a personal relationship with your music teacher. All students learn differently, and the key to instrumental lessons is to have goals and plan tailored to each student. I aim to make the learning experience one which is fun, educational and comfortable for every student.
