Liz - HSPS, University of Cambridge

My name is Liz and I have been working as a private tutor for almost seven years. I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2017 and have since been tutoring, starting off part-time around other commitments, before making the transition into working full-time as a professional tutor in 2020. At university, I studied Human, Social and Political Sciences, with several Psychology modules. Additionally, I studied Japanese on the AMES course, and worked on many student plays and short films in my spare time. Since, my hobbies include film, literature, psychoanalysis, ice skating, French conversation and travel, and I have pursued an MSc in Psychological Sciences. Before university, I studied the International Baccalaureate, with Film, History and French as my High Level subjects and Biology, Maths and English as my Standard Level subjects.

I adapt my tutoring style to each individual student, quickly identifying their strengths, weaknesses, priorities and goals, and, importantly, their communication style. I have accumulated a wealth of resources over the past seven years, many of which I created myself, many are sourced and edited from elsewhere. Through collaborative work during the sessions, I tailor my approach to fit their needs and personalities. I particularly enjoy getting to know the student and moulding the subject around their interests, making sure the sessions are useful, rewarding and enjoyable.
