Jordan
Hi there, I'm Jordan, and I recently graduated with a BSc in Geography from Hughes Hall, Cambridge. As well as fulfilling my longstanding academic curiosity across a range of disciplines (including Economics and Politics), I also held a range of positions of responsibility, including being my college's student president and organising our college's May Ball. At A-Level, I studied Maths (A*), Economics (A*) and Geography (A*), whilst I also completed an Extended Project Qualification (A*) and a short-course Further Maths qualification.
When I completed my studies at school, I became a full-time teacher for an international school in Abu Dhabi. Here, I worked with students aged 11-18, teaching Economics, Business, Geography and Maths. This included teaching a sixth-form Economics class and also running a wide range of enrichment classes for talented students from 11 upwards. I therefore know how to help students excel in their particular disciplines, whatever subject that is.
I have been working with students of all-abilities for over 7 years now, with over 2000 hours of experience across a range of subjects including GCSE, A-Level, and IB. Up to 16 years old, this has included all Humanities and Social Sciences subjects, Sciences, Languages and Maths. For sixth-form students, I have extensive experiences tutoring Geography, Economics & Business, Maths and Politics. I also have extensive extra-curricular mentoring experience and have guided over 50 students through their university application process, with a significantly high success rate.
For me, tutoring is all about honing in on what the student wants to achieve and then we can set small, manageable steps to get to that goal in the time allowed. This means that each session I have with a student there will be noticeable progress and, over time, a huge amount can be achieved! I always ensure this plan is clearly defined and communicated to parents/guardians throughout so are all on the same page, working towards that end goal. I also place heavy emphasis on ensuring the student understands the value of exam technique, and possesses the skills for use in the long-term to apply to all exams and tests they have to conduct in the foreseeable future.
