Hello, I’m Elizabeth (Lizzie for short) and I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first class degree in Education, English, Drama and the Arts in July 2023. I took A-Levels in English (A*), Drama and Theatre Studies (A*) and History (A) and have 11 GCSEs.
Throughout my undergraduate degree I learnt a lot about the complexities of educating and working with young people, and especially loved working with the Cambridge Steiner school. I have been tutoring since sixth-form, where I would help younger students with subjects ranging from English and Drama to History and Spanish at KS3, GCSE and A-Level. I loved building strong connections with my students, and seeing them achieve their personal and academic goals. More recently I spent six weeks teaching English at a school in rural Thailand, where I gained rewarding experience and obtained a TESOL qualification.
Throughout university I enjoyed rowing and was a captain of my College Boat Club, and I love other sports as well such as athletics. I was also a part of the University of Cambridge Women in Business group, where I organised and ran events.
My tutoring style is friendly, ensuring students feel comfortable and confident, and I am patient and try to instill a sense of enjoyment and fun into the learning process, whilst ensuring that students have a strong grasp on content so they can develop and produce original ideas and pieces of work. I have helped students also with University interview preparation and applications, as well as essay writing.
