Aminah - engineering, University of oxford

Hello! I’m Aminah, studying Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and entering my fourth-year master’s soon after completing three years of General Engineering. I have begun to specialise in biomedical and software engineering. I was selected as a Diamond Jubilee Scholar for the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). Outside of studies, I have held leadership positions across different university societies, managing various events and teams. Before university, I was educated at Alleyn’s, where I achieved 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at A-Level. At GCSE, I attained 7 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s, alongside an A in the FSMQ Additional Maths.

Over the last five years, I’ve gained extensive tutoring experience, successfully guiding students across various levels from ages 7 to university entrance exams like the PAT, ENGAA, and NSAA. Many of my students have seen significant grade improvements, with most of them increasing by two grades at GCSE and A-Level. I offer tuition in Maths, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry up to the GCSE level, and I specialise in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry for A-Level. In addition, I assist with university preparation and mentorship, including personal statement editing, entrance exams, and interview coaching, particularly for Engineering, Maths and Physics courses at Oxford and Cambridge. Last year, all four of my Oxbridge applicants received interview invitations.

My tutoring approach is highly adaptive—I tailor my lessons to the individual needs of each student, ensuring an interactive, question-based learning environment. I plan between the tutor, student and parent to ensure all expectations are met and the time is spent optimally. I consistently assign homework to reinforce the material we cover in lessons, helping students to build confidence and deepen their understanding.

Beyond my academic pursuits, I’m passionate about jazz singing and performing in a band, though I originally trained in classical music and sang in choirs like the London Youth Choir. Outside of music, I play tennis, representing my Oxford college and previously captaining my school team. In my downtime, I enjoy movies and solving sudoku puzzles.

I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!
