Aaliyah
Hi, I’m Aaliyah! I’m currently a second year at the University of Oxford studying Modern Languages (Spanish and Portuguese). At GCSE I studied a range of subjects obtaining 11 A* grades. I then studied Spanish (A*), French (A*) and Economics (A*) at A Level.
For me, tutoring means more than simply going over past papers and regurgitating information. I believe that the best tutors nurture their students and identify their unique learning style so that they can provide a plan which stimulates genuine interest in the subject whilst also building their confidence. My interest in tutoring started when I worked in Spain as an au-pair teaching English to two young girls. I believe that my enthusiasm, bubbly personality and patience helped me to improve their English during the 2 months that I worked and lived in Madrid.
I have had a lot of experience tutoring students for their 11+ and GCSE exams privately as well as part of a company. I am confident that I can work with a range of ages and abilities as I have a broad range of teaching experiences which includes tutoring a child with Special Educational Needs.
I strive to form a personal relationship with my students as it creates a comfortable learning environment in which the student does not feel nervous when answering/asking a question or when speaking in a foreign language.
I look forward to sharing my passion for languages with you!
